    Meeman Shelby Forest State Park is an extra special place to me. Having a state park this close to home allowed me to practice my skills with navigation, trip planning, packing essentials, building endurance and just allowed me to be me out there on the trails. There's so many beautiful bird songs to hear and the watching the park change with seasons keeps it fresh all year round.

    We live about 10 minutes from Meeman Shelby State Park and love all that our “home” park has to offer. We have enjoyed kayaking the lake with its many “fingers” to view hawks, eagles, turtles and other wildlife. We have hiked the trails that offer varying degrees of difficulty and frisbee golfed the amazing course! However, the treasure of the park is the 8-10 miles of horse trails. We ride regular at the park and the availability of horse trails was part of the reason we moved to the Millington/Shelby Forest. Thanks for the work the park rangers, staff, and other horse rider volunteers do to maintain the park!
